Creativity and Innovation at New Era School

We're playing some theatre games to get the creative juices flowing at this 2-day workshop for the teaching staff at New Era Public School in Delhi. Geetha Narayanan (founder of Srishti, pictured below) and a team of 10 of us from Centre for Education, Research, Training and Development, collaborated to put on this dynamic workshop. As suspicious as the teachers may have been in the beginning, they were raving about their experience at the end of the second day.

One Billion Rising Karnataka

1 In 3 women on the planet will be raped or beaten in her lifetime. One billion women violated is an atrocity. One billion women dancing is a revolution. #onebillionrising

In Bangalore we wanted to put on an event that could bring people together in a spirit of celebration, across caste, class and regional differences. So the event included drumming, live art, street theatre, speakers, and a DJ.

Music really was the magic ingredient that got people mixing, and how better to resist violence against women than to dance your heart out on the streets.

Like Emma Goldman said, "If I can't dance, I don't want to be part of your revolution"!

The night concluded with a candle light poetry and storytelling session in Cubbon Park, lead by Maara.
