Open House Debate: Safety of Women

Having a serious discussion about violence against women at the Open House Debate organized by I am Change. Here you see Geeta Menon, well-known activist and Co-founder of Stree Jagruti Samiti, on the right. The Police Commissioner of Bangalore, who said he'd come, didn't make it, but none the less, our conversation had a tone of urgency. I hope these conversations sustain after the hype around the Delhi gang rape incident dies down.

Crime Conference in Kanyakumari

I delivered this Shadow Liberation Keynote Lecture Performance in Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India, for the Second International Conference of the South Asian Society of Criminology and Victimology. Audience members came to the stage and we put together a Forum Theatre scene about sexual harassment on the spot. The conference was timely in light of the recent high profile gang rape case in Delhi. How can we stop the global sexual violence epidemic, and what would a restorative holistic justice look like? I also presented Masculinity Unmasked: Healing a Culture of Rape and I chaired the panel on Men as Victims: Myths and Realities.
